Kempsville Elementary School - Mrs. Thorpe's Second Grade Class (Class 2)

Mrs. Thorpe’s second grade class (class # 2) is very excited to share Flat Stanley’s adventures with you. Stanley was born and raised in Kempsville Elementary School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Kempsville’s mascot is the Indian and our school colors are orange and blue. Our community is made up of different military families because there are many military bases in and around Virginia Beach. Stanley has adapted well to being a second grader due to all the great role models who are students in our classroom. Kempsville is one of fifty-six elementary schools in the Virginia Beach school district. We have nearly 500 students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school also houses a pre-school program for developmentally delayed/handicapped pre-school children. Please visit our web site to learn more about the Kempsville Indians.

Our Stanley is very active and he loves adventure. Not only does Stanley like to play sports such as baseball, he also likes to watch sports. One of Stanley’s favorite teams to watch is the Dallas Cowboys football team (even though the Washington Redskins are very near to our state). On the weekends he likes to fly kites or go to Busch Gardens which is in Williamsburg, Virginia. In September he likes to attend our local Neptune Festival at the beach. Stanley is a good artist and painting during art class is his favorite subject in school. He has a large appetite and loves to eat popcorn, pizza, candy and especially cotton candy! Stanley lives with his one brother, Flat Bob, and his weird parents! He has a dog that likes to walk. Watching High School Musical, Drake and Josh, Hannah Montana and listening to spooky Halloween music is something he also enjoys very much. Stanley is a very useful flat kid. If the door is locked he can get in and unlock the doors by slipping through the cracks!
Right now Stanley is packing and getting ready for his trip. We are going to miss Stanley, but we know he is in good hands with you. Have fun with our friend!

Phew...Stanley is exhausted. He was so busy while he was here that he didn't even have time to miss you. He was lucky enough to trick or treat, see Hannah Montana, went to the Gateway Arch and many, many more things. We loved having him with us and he is welcome back ANY time!!!!!We hope his other journeys are great. Henderson Elementary School and St. Charles, MO will always remember Kempsville Stanley.

Great video conference. We really loved your schoo song! It sounds like our Stanley has been very busy just like yours we can't waitfor ours to get back home. We can't wait to see the movie he is going to 'STAR' in. We are having so much fun learning about all the different schools and place he has been. It is interesting to see just how similar the kids, school s and curriculums are across the country.
