Independence Elementary School - Mrs. Kelly's 1st Grade Class
We are Mrs. Kelly’s first graders from Independence Elementary in Mrs. Kelly’s class. We have 12 girls and 9 boys in our class. We do centers and lots of group work in our class. We go to school year round which means we get a short summer break and other breaks between each quarter. Some of our favorite things are candy, Junie B. Jones, recess, math, and talking. In our grade level, there are 5 other first grades. Our school has 835 students! Independence school colors are red, white, and blue and our mascot is the eagle.
Flat Stanley is from St. Charles. St. Charles is famous because the Lewis and Clark expedition started here. St. Charles is a city located next to the Missouri River. The Missouri River separates St. Charles from St. Louis. Stanley’s favorite foods are pizza, toasted ravioli, and ice cream. Did you know the first ice cream cone was introduced at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis? Stanley loves to go to into St. Louis to the zoo, and to go up in the Arch. He plays soccer like most of the boys and girls in our class. Stanley also likes to ride his bike on the KatyTrail. The KatyTrail is a bike trail that starts in St. Charles and goes all the way across the state of Missouri. In Missouri, we have 4 beautiful seasons. Stanley likes summer the best because he can play outside a lot. He also likes it when we get snow in the winter because he loves to go sledding.Flat Stanley loves professional sports. His favorite teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, GO CARDS, the Rams, and the Blues!

Welcome Mrs. Kelly's Class! We're really excited you're joining us for this project!
I'm really glad you are participating in the Flat Stanley videoconference project! Many St. Louis area schools are, and that's wonderful.

Thank you for sending Flat Stanley to us. We at Moshannon Valley really liked your class picture. We thought Stanley was brave to ride that horse!
