R. D. Wilson Elementary School - Mrs. Haber's Second Grade Class

We would like to introduce Flat Stanley to you. He goes to Robert D. Wilson Elementary School in Waymart, Pennsylvania. He is in Mrs. Haber’s second grade class. Our school is located in rural northeastern Pennsylvania with rolling hills filled with lots of deer, bear, and turkey. We have around 500 students, pre-k through 5^th grade. Our school colors are black and gold, and our mascot is the Wildcat. From our playground we can see a long row of large windmills generating power used in Philadelphia. In our school lobby there is a display with a very old Native American canoe that was found in one of our local ponds. We start school just before Labor Day and hopefully end early in June, but that depends on how many snow days we have. Our day begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:15. Like most schools Stanley spends his day mostly reading and doing math, but there is also time for science and social studies. Like most students he likes specials, gym, art, music and library. He has a busy school day at Robert D. Wilson.

Stanley is a very active seven year old boy. He is smart and especially loves gym class. His classmates have discovered that he likes to eat pizza rolls, but is allergic to turnips and flowers. He usually drinks either apple juice or orange juice. Like many of his friends he participates in soccer or youth league softball. On weekends he likes to go to his friend’s farm and help out with chores or take a walk in the woods with his parents. In school Stanley likes to read and is working hard to learn his math facts. His favorite books are the Treehouse books as he reads about all of Jack and Annie’s adventures. We are excited about hearing about Stanley’s adventures. We know he is in good hands.

Independence Elementary School - Mrs. Schultheis' Third Grade Class

Hello! The name of our school is Independence Elementary. Our school colors are red, white and blue. Weldon Springs, Missouri is in St. Charles County. St. Charles County is just northwest of St. Louis County. We have 22 children in our class. There are 12 boys and 10 girls. We have two teacher assistance in our class; Mrs. Sandy and Mrs. Katie. There are 6 classes of Third Grade in our building. We go to 3 special classes, Art, Music and PE. We have one of our special classes everyday. We have a 20 minute recess everyday before we go to lunch. Our day starts at 9:00 and we go home at 4:00. Our school year starts in July and ends in May. We take cycle breaks in October, December, March and June. Our breaks add up to a normal summer off. It is great because your family can go on vacation during all the seasons of the year if they want to. We also don’t forget what we have learned over a long summer vacation.

Our Flat Stanley goes to our school. He is in Third Grade. Flat Stanley loves to read books. His favorite subject is Science. He likes to ride a motorcycle and play sports. Cheese pizza is his favorite food. His is allergic to Barbie Dolls and has a girlfriend. Stanley is especially good at encouraging other and this allows him to have many, many friends.

Thomas Jefferson Day School - Mrs. Conklin's Third Grade Class

Mrs. Conklin's third grade class is excited to share Flat Stanley with you. We hope you enjoy him and show him a good time. The name of our school is Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School. We are a private school of about 250. We only have one grade of each, Pre-K through 12th grade. We have 20 students in our class, 9 girls and 11 boys. We are very busy learning lots of things. In math we are beginning to learn our multiplication facts. We are also making board games about the book Caleb's Story. Stanley is coming to you from Joplin, Missouri. Joplin is a city of about 47, 000. We are located in the southwest corner of Missouri. One of Joplin's newest additions is a city trolley. We are hopeful to give at least one of our Stanley visitors a ride on this. We do not have any large bodies of water in Joplin, but we have a couple of lakes about an hour away. We are not too far away from Branson and the famous Silver Dollar City.

Now, we must tell you about Stanley. He was born at Freeman Hospital. He is of course in the third grade. His favorite subject is Science. Right now he is learning about pollination and bugs. He loves spaghetti. He is also very good at sports. He wants to be a goalie for our high school soccer team, but they think he is just a little bit Flat! They did agree to let him be a Little Cavalier Critter and help cheer for the team. Some of his third grade friends are Critters with him. Stanley thinks he is allergic to medicine, but we think maybe he just doesn't really like it. Since Stanley spends a lot of time in the third grade room with many bears, he has become quite fond of them, but he also has this idea in his head that he'd like to start a shell collection. He is hopeful that he might get some along his journey. So we decided he has two things to collect, shells and bears. Stanley also loves to read too, so read him many books and send him home soon.

Clarence Center Elementary - Mr. Hardick's Third Grade Class

We are Mr. Hardick’s 3^rd grade class from Clarence Center Elementary School! Our school is in Clarence Center New York, which is just outside of Buffalo. There are 11 girls and 9 boys in our class. Stanley has been with us for a few weeks and he’s quite the character. Just like the other kids in our room, Stanley likes to laugh and goof around with his friends. He does a good job working though, and even got an A+ on his buoyancy project (he made a boat out of recycled egg cartons). Stanley also won the Student Of The Week award in September for being polite and helpful to his classmates.

Stanley enjoys science, reading, gym and recess here at school. He plays hockey and has a pet praying mantis that we keep here in the classroom. Playing in the snow is one of Stanley’s favorite activities. He skis, snowboards and rides a snowmobile. Stanley is a good student and a good friend to his classmates and we’ll miss him while he’s gone.

Clarence Center Elementary - Mrs. Zabel's Third Grade Class

Hello! We are a third grade class from Clarence Center Elementary School. We are about 20 minutes from Buffalo, New York. There are 20 students in our class; 10 boys and 10 girls. We begin our day at 8am and leave school at 2:30pm. Our teacher’s name is Mrs. Zabel. We also have Mrs. Funk, Mrs. Stoness, Mrs. Gardiner and Mrs. Mohnsen come into our class to help us learn.

Flat ‘Clarence’ loves to do many things. He loves playing baseball and soccer in the warmer weather. He also rides his bike on the many bike paths we have in our town. In the winter he enjoys sledding, skiing and building snowmen. His favorite food is…chicken wings! It doesn’t matter if they are BBQ, mild or hot! He is also a huge sports fan…especially the Buffalo Sabres(hockey) and the Buffalo Bills(football). In school, Clarence loves science and reading. He also enjoys using the computers. Flat Clarence is excited to see new schools and new areas of our country. He is looking forward to meeting new friends!

Harrison Elementary School - Second Grade Classes

The Flat Stanley project is being done as a Tech Class project with three 2^nd grade classes at Harrison Elementary School in Port Huron, Michigan. In Mrs. Werth’s class, there are 8 girls and 8 boys in our class. She will be taking Flat Stanley for the first exchange. Ms. Weatherspoon has 8 boys and 9 girls and she will do the 2^nd exchange and Ms. Chavez has 10 boys and 7 girls and she will do the third exchange and then we will rotate through again.

Our school is in Port Huron, Michigan, the Maritime Capital of the Great Lakes. It is a quiet town that borders Sarnia, Ontario, which is in Canada. Port Huron has an international border crossing marked by the twin spans of the Blue Water Bridge.

We are thrilled to have our new student, Flat Stanley, visiting with you! At our school, he especially likes going to one of his five special classes each day. He loves our music class with Mr. Rambaum and is busy rehearsing for our Christmas concert in December. He is hoping that he will get a part playing one of the musical instruments. Flat Stanley likes going to art class. He likes to make jack-o-lanterns with the help of our art teacher, Mrs. McQuiston. He has a little trouble holding the crayons and should work on developing his upper body strength! Flat Stanley seems to be enjoy having fun at Harrison School and I’m sure he will enjoy visiting yours. If he is allergic to anything, we haven’t noticed yet—hopefully you will be watching for that.

Athens-Chilesburg Elementary - Ms. McKinney's Third Grade Class

Hello! We are a group of 3^rd graders from Lexington, Kentucky. Our school is called Athens-Chilesburg Elementary. We are so excited to introduce you to our classroom friend, Flat Stanley.

Flat Stanley was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He is now a 3^rd grader at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary School (or ACE for short). His favorite subject in school is math because he loves numbers. He especially loves PE class because he gets to run around and play fun activities. Flat Stanley’s hobbies are riding his bike and collecting pins. (He is currently wearing a UK pin.) His favorite food is pizza with lots of cheese. Be careful because Flat Stanley is allergic to bananas and broccoli! When it’s rainy or cold outside, he likes to read books and drink hot chocolate. Flat Stanley also likes being outdoors. His favorite thing to do outside is ride his bike. Flat Stanley loves going to school at ACE because his teacher is the best and he gets to see all of his friends everyday.

Lexington is Flat Stanley’s hometown. It is a great city to live in. It is located in the Appalachian Mountains and the “Bluegrass State.” Lexington has rivers, lakes, hills, and valleys. The weather in Lexington is different in each season. In the spring it is rainy and summers in Lexington are very hot and humid. It is breezy and chilly in the fall, but in the winter it can get very cold. Flat Stanley’s favorite season is fall because he loves when the leaves on the trees change to bright, warm colors.

Flat Stanley’s favorite sports team is the Kentucky Wildcats. He loves to go to Rupp Arena and watch the UK basketball team. And on Saturdays in the fall, he can be found tailgating in front of Commonwealth Stadium before UK football games. Flat Stanley also enjoys going to Keenland in the spring to watch the Thoroughbred horses race.

Hopewell Elementary - Mrs. Bowman's First and Second Grade Class

Hopewell Elementary is a great school with great kids in Preschool to 5^thgrade. We have a big playground where we play baseball, basketball, football, kickball and tetherball. We have toys too.

Our teacher, Mrs. Bowman, is Crayola Crazy! Our classroom has Crayola stuff everywhere. We also have tons of books in our classroom. We’ve been reading Tomie DePaola’s books this month.

Hopewell is a rural school located near Flint Ridge State Memorial. Flint Ridge is an ancient flint quarry used thousands of years ago by the local Indians. We got our name from those Indians.

The nearest big city is 50 miles west- Columbus, which is the state capital of Ohio and the home of the Ohio State Buckeyes!

K. D. Markley Elementary - Ms. Tilles' First Grade Class

We are in First Grade at K.D. Markley Elementary School. Our school is in Malvern, Pennsylvania. It is a suburb, so we live in neighborhoods with lots of backyards and parks. It is a fun town to live in. We have parades on holidays. There are lots of activities like soccer, Brownies, and Cub Scouts.

Our town is close to the city of Philadelphia. We love to cheer for the Phillies and the Eagles. There are a lot of museums and cool historical sites to see in Philadelphia. There is even a zoo!

There are 21 friends in our class and we work hard to be welcoming to everyone. Our teacher is named Miss Tilles. Everyday, we have Reader’s Workshop and Writer’s Workshop. We have Math, Work Stations, Social Studies, and Science too. We love to go to our special classes like Art and Gym. We have two pets- a hermit crab and a fish. Our favorite part of the day is Morning Meeting, where we greet each other and start the day off smiling!

Eagleville Elementary School – Mrs. Yanek’s Second Grade Class

Greetings from Eagleville, Pennsylvania! We are the kids of Miss Yanak's second grade class. There are 21 of us - 11 girls and 10 boys. Most of us are 7 years old and are turning 8 this year. We live in houses or apartments and everyone either rides the bus or gets a car ride to school. We have a special class every day (Art, Music, Library, and Gym class we have twice a week!)

This year Eagleville School is celebrating its 50th anniversary. (Actually, our school was totally rebuild 6 years ago, so it looks really new in the photo.) Our theme for the year is "Go for the Gold - As Eagleville Turns 50." We are trying to practice showing respect and taking responsibility in every part of our lives. We like jokes, recess, and listening to good stories.

Eagleville is a small village that is considered to be a suburb of Philadelphia. It is very near the King of Prussia shopping area and Valley Forge National Historical Park. The name Pennsylvania mean's "Penn's Woods," as the land was a gift to William Penn from King Charles II of England. Our capitol city is Harrisburg, but the largest city is Philadelphia. Pittsburgh is close behind. In fact, Pennsylvania has two major league football, baseball, and hockey teams. The fans for the teams sometimes split themselves right down the middle between east (Philadelphia) and west (Pittsburgh.) When your Flat Stanley comes here we will want him to visit Philadelphia, Valley Forge, the Pocono Mountains, Hershey Park, and Lancaster County (home of many Amish people.)

We hope that you have fun with our Flat Stanley and show him a good time in your community. Stanley has one brother named, Arthur, but they don't always get along. So, Stanley's sort of happy to be visiting you where he doesn't have to put up with a little brother. Because he comes from Eagleville he especially likes the Eagles football team. If he sees an eagle he might start singing the song, "Fly Eagles fly, On the road to vic-tor-y . . ." Stanley really likes meeting all sorts of people, old and young, but only kind people who treat him with respect. You will find that he likes egg salad sandwiches, and milk, but he also enjoys pizza, mac and cheese, and cookies. Hershey's chocolate is made in Pennsylvania, so he really likes Kisses. The chocolate type!! Be careful, he is allergic to peanuts and peanut butter, so it's important for him to sit away from those foods during lunch or other food times. He likes being outside in the fresh air, but watch out for strong gusts of wind! You wouldn't want to see him blow away!

Eagleville Elementary School – Mrs. Cornish’s Second Grade Class

Flat Stanley comes from Eagleville Elementary School, located about 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia, 5 miles from Valley Forge National Historical Park, and about 4 miles from the home of John James Audubon. Flat attends Mrs. Cornish’s second grade class where 21 children gather each day. Twelve boys and nine girls learn, work, and play together in the class. We sit in teams of four or five so that we can help each other to learn. There are five computers in our room. Eagleville is celebrating its fiftieth year anniversary (half a century) and we are planning a special celebration. Our School theme is “Going for the Gold at 50.” It’s especially nice to share this year with the visiting Flats as well. Our whole school is working hard to focus on Respect and Responsibility so we are quite sure that Flat will be a nice guest at your school. We are looking forward to introducing the visiting Flats to our class mascot, “Friendship the Frog.” We know that they’ll be great friends and good company for each other.

Flat Stanley is such an enthusiastic and energetic student. He comes to school with a positive attitude and enjoys learning. Meeting new friends is especially exciting for Flat. I think that’s why you will see a smile on his face all the time. Flat enjoys telling jokes. One that he likes is: “What can make an octopus laugh?” The answer is “ten tickles (tentacles).” Soccer is a favorite sport for Flat and he loves wearing the team shirt with “Stanley” written on the back. One time he was riding his bike in Valley Forge Park and he got a flat tire – no problem for a boy named Flat. The fish that he likes the most is the flounder. If you think about that for a moment, it makes sense. Flat’s favorite food is a Philly Cheesesteak. Hershey Kisses made right here in Pennsylvania are his favorite treats. One thing that’s not too surprising is that he also likes flatbread and pancakes. Two of his favorite colors are blue and yellow which just happen to be our school colors. Special pastimes for Flat are writing and reading stories. Don’t forget to include him in your story time. Have fun with Flat. We are looking forward to hearing of his adventures and travels.

Eagleville Elementary School – Mrs. Brown’s Second Grade Class

Stanley is very excited to begin his travels. He enjoys meeting new people while exploring and learning about new places. But at the same time he is sad to leave behind our class of 14 boys, 8 girls and Mrs. Brown, our teacher. Our school is celebrating a birthday on November 9, 2007- Eagleville will be fifty years old. The entire school and community will be celebrating this special event. An eagle is our school mascot and our school colors are blue and gold. There are approximately 425 students enrolled in our K- 5 building. In addition to our school, there are four additional elementary schools in our school district. We are live in Southeastern Pennsylvania, approximately 18 miles west of Philadelphia. Valley Forge National Park is only 5 miles from Eagleville Elementary. Our favorite subject is reading and Everyday Math. The math activities are great. Our first field trip is on October 10^th; a visit to the Herr’s Factory. Maybe you have eaten Herr’s potato chips or Herr’s pretzels? Well, we are going to see first hand how these foods are made by machines!

Flat Stanley was born and raised in the suburban Philadelphia area. Stanley loves to watch the Phillies play at their ball park, Citizens Bank Park. It is an exciting time for the people in the Philadelphia area, the Philadelphia Phillies are the National League Eastern Division Champions. We are Phillie Phanatics!! When the Phillies are not playing, he cheers for the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. He enjoys eating cheesesteaks, soft pretzels and Tastykake treats. We love the Phillies, the Eagles, the 76ers, and the Flyers as much as he does! His favorite school lunch is pizza. Stanley not only likes to watch sporting events but he also likes to play all sports. His favorite subject in school is reading. Please keep a close eye on Stanley, if he hears Take Me Out to the Ballgame, he might just decide to start singing and dancing regardless of what he is doing.

Roundtown Elementary School - Ms. Strayer/Mrs. Bender's Second Grade Class

Hello from Roundtown Elementary in York, Pennsylvania! We’re in second grade. There are 21 students in our class, 9 boys and 12 girls. Our teacher is Mrs. Bender. We are called Bender’s “Best.” We love to go to physical education and especially like to play High Five tag. There are lots of books to read here. We all loved Flat Stanley! We play lots of fun games, like Tic Tac 15 and the Snake Game. We can tell you all about them when we videoconference!

Our school has 537 students in grades kindergarten through third. There are 27 classrooms here. We’re located on the outskirts of York. York is a medium sized city and we live in York County. Flat Stanley from York, PA loves to eat chocolate cake. He watches “The Magic School Bus” whenever he can. His favorite sport is soccer and he is the goalie of his team. His team is called the Central Panthers.

Coolbaugh Elementary Center - Mrs. Konosky's & Ms. Chelik's Third Grade Classes

Hi! Meet Mrs.Konosky's and Ms. Chelik's Third Grade Classes at Coolbaugh Elementary Center. Our school is located in northeastern Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains. The geography of the Poconos consists of rolling mountains, beautiful lakes, and long rivers. It is a rural community that is quickly transforming into a suburban community. Our school is large and has around 1200 students. We have a full size gym, a mulipurpose room where we eat our breakfast and lunch, as well as attend assemblies. Our library is filled with great books, the art room is where we get to be creative, we sing our hearts out in the music room, and our computer lab has enough computers for 2 classes at one time! Of course, there are our regular classrooms where we spend most of our day learning the basics and doing fun projects such as "Flat Stanley".

Flat Stanley is quite a character! He fit in well on our "Farm Bulletin Board" in our "farm reading corner. He has gone to Kettle Creek on a nature walk, attended a safety assembly, and went on a great field trip to Roba's Pumpkin Patch. He likes listening to stories in reading class and solving problems in Math. He really belts out a song in music, and wow, is he ever a computer whiz! He runs as fast as the rest of us in gym, and turned out a pretty nice flag in art! He likes to eat pizza, especially the breakfast pizza. Chicken nuggets are his second favorite along with tortillas and nachos and cheese! He's really excited about meeting all of you!

Moshannon Valley Elementary School (Third Grade) - Mr. Liadis' Third Grade Class

This is Stanley Lambchop’s first year at Moshannon Valley Elementary School. Stanley’s third grade teacher is Mr. Liadis and there are 18 other students in the class. Our school district is located in central Pennsylvania. The district is small and rural with about 1,050 students. There is one elementary school in the district and we have four third grades.

Being close to State College, PA, makes Stanley and his classmates Nittany Lion fans. Penn State University is located about 35 miles from our school. We also enjoy cheering for the professional football teams in Pennsylvania. Go Steelers and Eagles! We also enjoy cheering on the Moshannon Valley boys’ and girls’ teams. The boys’ teams are called the Black Knights and the girls’ teams are called the Damsels.

When Stanley and his classmates aren’t rooting for their favorite teams, they are enjoying the outdoors. Living in a rural area, we have lots of open space for riding bikes or going for four-wheeler rides with our families. We have a number of state parks that are a short distance from where we live, so many of us enjoy fishing. Soon it we be deer hunting season in Pennsylvania, so “spotting deer” at night can be fun.

The class enjoys eating pizza. However, on special occasions like weddings, we eat foods from the Eastern Europe culture like pierogies (a crescent-shaped, filled dumpling) and halupki (stuffed cabbage). You may catch our students dancing the Polka or the Chicken Dance.

Moshannon Valley Elementary School (First Grade) - Mrs. McMasters/Miss Bojalad’s First Grade Class

Mrs. McMasters’ and Miss Bojalad’s first grade classes are from Moshannon Valley Elementary school in Houtzdale Pennsylvania. Our school has about 500 students in grades kindergarten through 6^th. We are located in Clearfield County which is in the mountainous central Pennsylvania. We are about 60 miles from the Penn State University, home of the famous Nittany Lions football team headed by Coach Joe Paterno.

Our community is rich in hardwoods and coal and at one time was huge in the railroad industry. Many people travel to State College and other nearby cities for employment so they may have the benefits of living and raising their families in a small tightly knit community.

Moshannon Valley Elementary School (Third Grade) - Mrs. Speerstra's Third Grade Class

Hi! We are a third grade class from Moshannon Valley Elementary School in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania. We have sixteen students in our class. We are the only third grade class that is upstairs with the older classes in our building. Our teacher’s name is Mrs. Speerstra and she is nice. In our class we have two journals, a daily journal and a reading response journal. In our reading response journal, we write about books we are reading such as Flat Stanley. We all think the book Flat Stanley is pretty funny. We like when he had to dress up as a girl and when Arthur left go of the kite string. We do character maps in third grade, and we do really hard math. We do “I wonders”, and we wonder how Stanley could breathe in the envelope and how he could walk when he was so flat. Everything is harder in third grade, but it is fun! We are so happy to be doing a book project with you!

Flat Stanley loves to eat grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, and pizza. He loves to drink cold juice with a crazy straw. He is allergic to peanut butter, cashews, and oranges. For fun, he likes to play ball, swim, and slide under doors. He is a nice, caring, and happy boy, but he becomes sad when people make fun of him. Sometimes he gets angry at his brother, Arthur, too. All in all, he is a really fun person.

Akron Elementary School - Mrs. Best's 2nd Grade Class

Hi. We are Mrs. Best’s Second Grade class. We live in Akron, NY. We are a small rural school district approximately 20 miles Northeast of Buffalo, NY.

We have 2 major League Sports teams here the NFL Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres, National Hockey League. Some of the things we like to do are play sports and games. Our favorite sport is hockey. In school we like to go to the Computer Lab. Our favorite book is Flat Stanley and Harry Potter.

Flat Stanley is our best friend. He loves to eat cheese and pepperoni pizza. He loves to eat all kinds of different flavors of ice cream which he gets from Perry’s Ice Cream that is made right here in Akron. He is 7 years old and is in 2^nd Grade too. He is allergic to cleaning his room and making his bed. He is also allergic to peanuts. His favorite colors are red, white and blue.

Hi. We are Miss Chudzinski’s Second Grade class. We live in Akron, NY. We are a small rural school district approximately 20 miles Northeast of Buffalo, NY.

We have 2 major League Sports teams here the NFL Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres, National Hockey League. Some of the things we like to do are play video games and all kinds of outdoor activities including football and cheerleading. We like to read and our favorite books are by Dr. Seuss and the Magic Tree House series.

Stanley is 7 years old and in the 2^nd grade. His favorite subject is gym and computer class. He loves to eat cookies & cream ice cream from Perry’s Ice Cream which is made right here in Akron and he loves chicken wings. His favorite colors are orange and black which are also our school colors because we are the Akron Tigers.

Our teacher gives us gold cards as rewards for doing nice things. We have calendar, morning work, learn ABC order, math, and communities in social studies. We also do Kidwriting. We eat lunch in the cafeteria and go to recess after we are done and play kickball. On Fridays they serve pizza. Everyone in our school goes to the high school for swimming lessons. At the end of the day we play a game called Around the World. We are located in the Pocono Mountains in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. The population of our town is 1,847. The closest city is San Antonio, which is 27 miles away. Many of us visit San Antonio often. Now, as far as our Stanley is concerned, he is a very unique fellow. . He is a cowboy who works on a ranch here in Natalia. He is a very hard worker and is always on the move. He has a large herd of Longhorn cattle who keep him very busy, and several crops of wheat and corn. When he is not working he likes to sit down with his Flat family and enjoy some good home cooking. His favorite meal is beef stew with corn bread. Because of all the stress he endures, he is already balding. So, he never takes off his cowboy hat. He even sleeps and showers with it! There is only one thing Stanley cannot stand, and that’s gophers. Stanley had quite a run in with them a few years back when they ate up all of his crops. It was a mess! He has a wife, Sandy May, and two children. A daughter, Jamie Lynn, and a son Stanley Jr. All of which are going to miss him very much but are delighted to have all of you meet and take care of their beloved father and husband.

Hello there! We are Mrs. Sebring’s class at Henderson Elementary in Saint Charles, Missouri. There are 20 students in our class, 21 including Stanley. Our school is small, with just over 500 students, so Stanley worries a bit about visiting larger schools. We are very excited to be part of this experience. In addition to Stanley, we have each created a “flat” version of ourselves which we have sent across the world. We hope to learn a great deal about all of our travel destinations. We love to talk and share so we look forward to the videoconferences more than anything.

St. Charles is a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri where there are many things to do and see. Stanley likes being near a city where he can visit attractions, such as museums, the zoo, and The Gateway Arch, which he thinks is the “coolest thing ever.” In third grade Stanley excels in reading and writing, but struggles with math. He is allergic to staples, scissors and peanut butter. He loves to eat pizza, carrots, and candy. He loves all sports and goes to games whenever he has the chance. Though he is very excited about his journey, he is nervous too. Stanley has never been on an airplane before so this is a scary time for him.

Our second grade class is at Barrett Elementary Center in Cresco, PA. Cresco is in the Poconos. There are twenty students in our class. Twelve of them are boys and eight are girls. Our homeroom teacher is Mrs. Scheck. Mrs. Terhune is coming in to help us with special projects. Our class likes math, recess, geography and SSR.

Our Flat Stanley’s favorite foods are pizza, macaroni and cheese, tacos, meatloaf and drinking Pepsi. Flat Stanley likes to eat pancakes for breakfast.

Hi there! We are the Rural Hall Bulldogs. Our school is located in Rural Hall, NC. There are 21 students in our classroom. We enjoy reading, math, and playing sports. Flat Stanley is quite an interesting guy. He loves pepperoni pizza, all flavors of ice cream and can’t say no to a giant slice of chocolate cake. Stanley enjoys playing kickball and basketball. He also just likes to hang-out with his friends and talk during playtime. Unfortunately, Stanley suffers from allergies and asthma so he has to take his medicine and his inhaler before going outside to play. But that doesn’t stop him. You should see him run! Since he loves to read about animals, he enjoys all of the Magic Tree House books. Flat Stanley likes to spend time with his family and watch movies. Cars, Flushed Away, Pirates of the Caribbean I, II, and III are a few of his favorites. Since he likes to play video games he cannot wait until the Halo movie comes to the theatre. The beach is one of his favorite places to go on vacation. But he also loves to go to the mountains to hike and ride his bike. One day he hopes to go to Disney World for a summer vacation.

We are Ms. Tucker's first grade class. We go to Rural Hall Elementary School in a small town called Rural Hall in North Carolina. We have 13 boys in our class and only 7 girls. Mrs. Bland is Ms. Tucker's assistant and Ms. Chunn comes in the afternoon from her high school. She is doing an internship in our class because she thinks she wants to be a teacher one day. Our teacher says that we are the best class in the school! We like to sing and dance and move around a lot.
It is fall now and our town fair is here. It is called the Dixie Classic Fair. We have been writing about the sounds and smells of the fair. Ms. Tucker is reading us the book Charlotte's Web. We all decided that we would like to have a friend like Charlotte. We have also been reading about Flat Stanley and his adventures. He sure leads an interesting life.

We are Ms. Parker’s second grade class at Barkley Elementary School. There are 9 girls and 13 boys in our class. Flat Stanley makes 14 boys. We are very excited to have Flat Stanley with us. He loves our library because it has lots of great books. On his first visit with us the Librarian read the Shoemaker and the Elves. Stanley had never heard that story before! Flat Stanley also went to his first music class. Mr. B. said that if Stanley didn’t start paying attention and singing he was going to have a detention! Flat Stanley will learn a lot from us at Barkley.

Our school is in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Phoenixville is a quiet town with nice neighborhoods and lots of kids around to play with. There are really good family restaurants and diners. Stanley will like trying all of them. Stanley is lucky because our town is only a few miles from Valley Forge Park. It’s a beautiful park and a fun place to visit. It’s also a very important part of our nation’s history. George Washington and his army of men spent a winter there during the American Revolution. Maybe that will be one of Stanley’s adventures here in Phoenixville. He is also very excited about visiting other towns and schools in the United States.

Cowboy Stanley is coming from Clarendon, Texas. It is a small town in the Texas Panhandle. It is a rural community that has a great deal of farming and ranching. There are 18 students and 2 teachers in our classroom. We have 8 boys and 10 girls. Two of the girls are twins. Our room number is 11. We have a lot of books, 6 computers, and a word wall. A word wall is a wall of words that we’ll know how to spell by the end of the year. Our mascot is the cougar and our colors are red and white. We love East Bradford!

Flat Stanley is a great friend! He helps us in many situations. For example, he makes sure we follow directions. Stanley is very kind to everyone. He likes reading, writing, and math. We come to school at 8:30 and we leave at 3:15. Every morning we have meetings to talk about news, announcements and play games. We have a lot of books in our class and we love to read!

Our Flat Stanley is from a town called Flatville, Pennsylvania. He goes to Schuylkill Elementary School and he is in second grade. He is an unusual boy. Stanley is allergic to broccoli, bees and rubber bands. Sometimes when he wants to be normal size, he eats broccoli or gets stung by a bee or puts rubber bands on himself to blow up again. The foods he likes to eat are: pepperoni pizza with whip cream, watermelon, hotdogs with marshmallows, hot cocoa with pineapple in it, flat brownies and Philly soft pretzels. Stanley enjoys cheering for the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. For fun he likes to be a paper airplane, go bowling at Phoenix Lanes, fly like a kite in Valley Forge Park, play golf at Markie’s Mini golf, play basketball at the YMCA and travel across the United States. He can’t wait to visit the other classrooms in the Flat Stanley Project!

J. B. Griffin Elementary School - Mrs. DeLand's First Grade Class

We, at Mrs. DeLand's transitional first grade, are very excited to have Stanley visiting our classroom. We are a class of 15 with 10 boys and 5 girls. This class is a first of it's kind here at J.B. Griffin Elementary. We were not quite ready for first grade and are taking this year to perfect our skills. Stanley will brush up on his reading and mathematical skills during his visit.

While Stanley is visiting our classroom he will be accompanying us on a field trip to Johnson's Pumpkin Farm on October 24. There, we will enjoy apple cider and doughnuts. This trip will allow Stanley to see how the cider is made. In addition, it will give Stanley an idea of how we spend our autumn here in Michigan. He can compare a Michigan autumn to others he may have seen all around the world and share with us the differences. Stanley will also go with us to see a play. At the end of May, our class will be going to the play, "If You Give Mouse A Cookie." Hopefully, Stanley can learn a lot in his visit to our classroom and maybe have a little fun too.

Pembroke Meadows Elementary School - Ms. Cawthorn/Ms. Gile's 3rd Grade Class

Our Flat Stanley is very excited about traveling to the many different schools in the country. We are 3rd graders at Pembroke Meadows Elementary School and our school mascot is the panther. Our school is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We live and play near the Atlantic Ocean. Our community is also made up of different military families, because there are many military bases in and around Virginia Beach. Our school has roughly 500 students – kindergarten through 5th grade. There are 20 students in our class, (Stanley makes 21), and Mrs. Giles is our teacher. Ms. Cawthon is our computer resource teacher and will be helping us visit your classroom. We are learning many new and exciting things this year. We like to sing while Mrs. Giles plays the guitar. Stanley is a great singer also! Maybe we will sing a song for you when we talk to your class!

Now a little bit about Stanley. Stanley was born in California but moved to Virginia Beach when he was small. He loves it here with the warm climate, the beaches, the museums, the amusement parks, and all the other fun activities there are here, but most of all he loves his school and his 3rd grade teacher. He is an excellent student, although he can be mischievous at times, and he adores reading! His favorite foods are pizza, of course, shrimp- lots of that around here, and Krispy Kreme Donuts! But please ask your mom not to fix broccoli or pie for him while he is visiting- he hates those! He’s also afraid of scary movies and has a fear of bulletin boards but he does love camping, roller skating, and playing with his friends. He’s also a very good soccer player and loves to watch all kinds of sports, like the Tides baseball team that plays here at Harbor Park. He has a pet hermit crab and some fish that he takes very good care of. Right now Stanley is packing getting ready for his trip. We are going to miss Stanley, but we know that he is in good hands with you. Have fun and we’ll be seeing you soon!

Rural Hall Elementary School - Mrs. McQueen's First Grade Class

We are very excited to share Flat Stanley’s adventures with you this school year. We are a class of 21 energetic boys and girls. There are 13 boys and 8 girls in our class. We are reading many of the Flat Stanley books. Mrs. McQueen and Mrs. Edwards are helping us become the best first grade students at Rural Hall School. We are reading many books and practicing our math skills. Our class is watching a caterpillar grow and change. Our caterpillar is eating lots of milkweed. It will become a butterfly in about 15 days, then we will set it free in our butterfly garden at school. We are writing about our caterpillar in our journals daily.

Flat Stanley will be traveling with our class on field trips and to other special events. We will be going to Horne Creek Farm in Surry County to feed the animals at the end of October. Then we will dress in our best to go to the Stevens Center in downtown Winston Salem to see the ballet, “THE NUTCRACKER”, in December. While in Winston Salem Flat Stanley will get to see the very tall Wachovia Building and visit Old Salem and the Candle Tea. During the winter months, we hope to get some snow. We usually don’t get much measurable snow in the Piedmont Triad. Who knows?? Maybe Flat Stanley will get a chance to build a snowman with us this year.Stay tuned for the fun adventures of our Flat Stanley. ;-)

Rural Hall Elementary School - Ms. Davidson's Third Grade Class

Ms. Davidson’s 3rd graders are so excited about Stanley getting the opportunity to visit your school! So that he is more comfortable when he arrives, we’d like to tell you a little bit about where he came from. Stanley has been enrolled at Rural Hall Elementary School since he was a wee kindergartener. He has really excelled in his school work, although at times is a bit mischievous. Stanley is in 3rd grade this year and is coming to you from Ms. Davidson’s class. He has twenty other classmates that are really going to miss him when he leaves but look forward to learning about the places he has traveled when he returns to us. On a daily basis, Stanley is experiencing so many new things in 3rd grade. Multiplication, division, Spanish, and having his very own locker for the first time are just a few! He loves reading books and earning points through a program we have called Accelerated Reader. At the end of the year, if Stanley tries hard and really focuses, he will attend a huge celebration for reading. Each year our librarian, Mrs. Estep, let’s the children experience all kinds of things from a new country. Stanley can’t wait!

Flat Stanley is coming to you from our town of Rural Hall. Rural Hall is a very small town near the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our school is located right across the street from our fire station which means we have all adjusted to the screeching sirens that go off at least a couple of times a week! Rural Hall has so many caring people. Our McDonald’s sponsors our school in a variety of special events. One night in the fall Stanley gets to go to McDonald’s where the teacher’s at Rural Hall will serve him! He absolutely loves that night because Chicken Mcnuggets are his absolute favorite! Maybe you could remember that next time you visit McDonald’s! Ms. Davidson’s class hopes you enjoy the time spent with Stanley and we all wish for his safe return to us soon!

Arrowwood Elementary School - Mrs. Huebsch's Third Grade Class

Stanley was born and raised in Arrowwood Elementary School in Saginaw, Michigan. He has adapted well to being a third grader due to the 24 great role models who are students in our classroom. Arrowwood is one of six elementary schools in our district, and it is also one of the largest. We have 445 students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school also houses the K.N.O.T.S (Kids Need Opportunity to Social) program, which is made up of students with autism. Students who participate in this program are trained to be mentors for students with autism.

Stanley is very active and he loves adventure. Not only does Stanley like to play a variety of sports including; soccer, football, basketball and swimming, he also likes to watch sports. One of Stanley’s favorite teams to watch is the Saginaw Spirit hockey team. On the weekends he also likes to ride his bike and go to friend’s houses to play. Stanley especially loves to read! He reads every night before he goes to bed. Mysteries are his favorite books, but he also likes to read scary stories. Stanley has a large appetite. He loves to eat pancakes, macaroni and cheese, pizza and steak. Stanley has even tried and likes sushi! He is looking forward to meeting new friends, seeing new places and trying new things. Rural Hall Elementary School - Mrs. Hollifield's 2nd Grade Class

Our Flat Stanley is from Rural Hall Elementary School in Rural Hall, North Carolina. Rural Hall is a small town right outside the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

We are a second grade class. Our class consists of twenty-two children. There are eleven boys and eleven girls. Our teacher’s are Mrs. Hollifield and Mrs. Earp. We have been busy reviewing the school rules as well as our classroom rules since school began on August 27th. We are looking forward to our first field trip on September 27th. All of the second grade classes are going to the North Carolina Zoo located in Asheboro. We will spend the whole day and get to see the animals, that we have been learning about, in their habitats. We are taking Flat Stanley with us. He is hoping to see the giraffes! We plan to take lots of pictures of his adventures.

We are a great class of first graders! We have 21 students. There are 13 boys and only 8 girls. We have become very good friends and we like to play with each other on the playground. Mrs. Kiser and Mrs. Walser have been reading to us the chapter books Charlotte's Web and Flat Stanley. Our class has been learning lots of new things this year! We are learning nursery rhymes, how to write in our journals and making patterns. Our class enjoys playing math games and singing songs. We have a class pet that is a stuffed bear named Blackie. Blackie will get a chance to go home with each boy and girl this year for a home visit. He is looking to see which good listener he wants to go home with first. Our class works in reading groups every day to learn letter sounds, words and how to read. We think our classroom is beautiful!

Flat Stanley is from the small town of Rural Hall, North Carolina. Rural Hall has only one stop light, a park, a library, a fire station and a train that comes through every day. Stanley goes to school at Rural Hall Elementary. We are the Rural Hall Bulldogs! We have about 680 students in our school and there are 5 first grade classes. Stanley is a very good helper who likes to follow directions and do all of his work. Stanley enjoys riding his bike and he is learning to ride without training wheels. He also likes to play sports and watch TV. His favorite channel is the Disney Channel. Stanley's favorite food is ice cream and he loves to eat at the Dairi-O. Stanley has a peanut allergy and has to be very careful about the things he eats. He can not have any food that has peanuts or peanut butter.

Central Elementary School - Ms. Pegg's 2nd and 3rd Grade Class

We are a 2^nd and 3^rd grade gifted class at Central Elementary. We are in the Francis Howell School District. We come from different elementary schools in the district but attend Central because of the gifted program. There are four 2^nd graders and four 3^rd graders. We are a year round school which means we are in school for 8 weeks and off for 3 weeks. We started school on July 19 and our last day of first quarter is September 20. Stanley is at Central Elementary in Saint Charles, Missouri (30 miles west of Saint Louis). He likes living in the suburbs because he is not too far from downtown Saint Louis and it is much quieter than the city. Stanley LOVES baseball and is a huge Saint Louis Cardinals Fan. He enjoys watching the Saint Louis Rams football and Saint Louis Blues hockey games. Stanley enjoys eating pizza, Ted Drewes frozen custard, and toasted ravioli! He likes animals of all shapes and sizes and frequently visits the Saint Louis Zoo.

Castlio Elementary School - Mrs. Armstrong's 3rd Grade Class

Our Flat Stanley is very excited about his upcoming visits to the many different classrooms. We are in third grade at Castlio Elementary. Our school is located in St. Charles, Missouri, a suburb near St. Louis. We have 26 students and our teacher is Mrs. Armstrong. We are in an eMINTS classroom, which means we use computers to help us learn every day. We like to read a lot in our classroom and make projects on our computers. Our school is very large. We have seven third grade classrooms and have over 1,000 students in our whole school, kindergarten through fifth grade.

Stanley loves to do many things. He likes to ride bikes, play soccer, and learn in school. He is very busy and likes to talk and visit others. He loves to eat ice cream, applesauce, and pizza. He always cheers for the Cardinals, Rams, and Blues, but never for the Cubs or Blackhawks. He is hoping the Blues have a winning season this year since the Cardinals did not. Stanley will love visiting you and hopes to have fun and learn many new things about where you live.

Hello! My name is Flat Stanley! I am a first grader at Independence Elementary School in St. Charles, Missouri. St. Charles is about 50 miles west of St. Louis. St. Louis is the home of the St. Louis Cardinals, World Series Champions in 2006, and the St. Louis Rams football team. Another neat fact about St. Louis is that the Arch is here! My first grade teacher is Mrs. Wilkinson. I have 21 students in my class. We go to school year round! That means that we go to school for 9 to 10 weeks and then are off for 3 weeks. We have breaks or vacations in Sept.-Oct, Dec. and March. We get off for 6 weeks in the summer!

I lead an interesting life. I have one younger brother named Arthur. I have a dog named, Lucky, and a cat named, Cookie. My favorite foods to eat are chocolate chip cookies, spaghetti, and lamb chops! I love to play Mario golf, limbo, and watch “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” on TV. I love being the Frisbee and playing with my friends. I just love that flying through the air feeling! The other thing that I am really good at is being a surfboard or raft and going down the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers! I have even been a kite and flown through the St. Louis Arch! It is fun to be “flat”, travel, and do so many different things!

Independence Elementary School - Mrs. Kelly's 1st Grade Class

We are Mrs. Kelly’s first graders from Independence Elementary in Mrs. Kelly’s class. We have 12 girls and 9 boys in our class. We do centers and lots of group work in our class. We go to school year round which means we get a short summer break and other breaks between each quarter. Some of our favorite things are candy, Junie B. Jones, recess, math, and talking. In our grade level, there are 5 other first grades. Our school has 835 students! Independence school colors are red, white, and blue and our mascot is the eagle.

Flat Stanley is from St. Charles. St. Charles is famous because the Lewis and Clark expedition started here. St. Charles is a city located next to the Missouri River. The Missouri River separates St. Charles from St. Louis. Stanley’s favorite foods are pizza, toasted ravioli, and ice cream. Did you know the first ice cream cone was introduced at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis? Stanley loves to go to into St. Louis to the zoo, and to go up in the Arch. He plays soccer like most of the boys and girls in our class. Stanley also likes to ride his bike on the Katy Trail. The Katy Trail is a bike trail that starts in St. Charles and goes all the way across the state of Missouri. In Missouri, we have 4 beautiful seasons. Stanley likes summer the best because he can play outside a lot. He also likes it when we get snow in the winter because he loves to go sledding. Flat Stanley loves professional sports. His favorite teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, GO CARDS, the Rams, and the Blues!
